Death Death Revolution

I have an undeniable love for all things morbid and gothic. So naturally, when my advanced composition professor assigned a research paper on any topic of our choosing, I opted for the evolution of modern embalming, and its impact on funerary practices in parts of Western Europe and North America. This is a very brief overview on the topic, drawing from both primary and secondary sources. The PDF can be found here.

Pygmalion Personas

I'm not much of a film buff, but as a horror lover, Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo struck a nerve with me. Using a feminist lens, I break down the darker implications of Vertigo, its parallels to the Greek myth of Pygmalion, and why it's so difficult to separate art from the artist. The PDF to my essay can be found here.

Reading Partner Project

Fun Fact: I used to study education! I eventually switched to a standard B.A. in English to allow for more career and schedule flexibility, but I still have a love for teaching and helping others grow. During my time as an education major, I took a class on Teaching Reading with Young Adults, and was assigned to work with a high school age student and analyze their reading comprehension skills. The format of this analysis is rather informal, but provides a thorough background on the reader, their personal interests, the types of tests conducted, patterns observed during these tests, and recommended teaching plans. The PDF can be found here.
